Pat and Wendy – The Video

This week something very special
At the beginning of February this year, we published an article by Wendy Crockett recalling her childhood holidays with her sister Pat at Sunderland Point during the late 1950s.
It was clearly of great interest, and we received numerous favourable comments from those who follow the website.
During these family holidays, Eric Gerrard, Pat and Wendy’s father, a keen filmmaker, made several cine film recordings.
Elizabeth Gerrard, Wendy’s daughter, has compiled and digitized several sequences from Sunderland Point, creating a lasting memory.
Fortunately for us, Elizabeth and Wendy have recorded a soundtrack in which Wendy recalls the people's identities and what is happening on the screen.
The video lasts just under fifteen minutes, and the result is magical. It brings to life a personal history and offers a nostalgic glimpse of the Point as it was nearly seventy years ago.
We are grateful to Wendy and Elizabeth for allowing us to show this video on the Sunderland Point website.
